Interesting article about correcting front/back focus issues, but I can’t seem to see the pictures you posted to see your comparisons.

Hi,
I think there is a problem with the test results, because the exposure of the samples are not the same.
I downloaded the ISO 6400 and ISO12800 files, then I opened them with Photoshop cs5.1 with default settings. I didn’t change any settings in photoshop. I see that the files which is taken with 1D mk4 is underexposed approx 1 EV according to the nikon D3s files.
Especially, the shadow areas in nikon D3s file is well exposed so the noise level is much lower than the canon 1D, As a result the nikon D3s seems that it is the clear winner but it’s wrong.
When I compare the photos according the color chart part of the pictures, I saw that canon 1D is a little bit more grainy but sharper and d3s is little bit softer. I think If the same photo was taken with 0.5-1 EV higher exposure settings with canon 1D, The high iso results would be better than nikon d3s.

The video was way too short & had no details on how the camera was converted. I just bought a Rebel 2000 for dirt cheap and want to do the same thing. I’m good woth tools, not afraid to dismantle if necessary and would appreciate a how-to.

just come across this – my first two 7Ds were returned because the IQ was atrocious and I persevered with my 3rd – that was a big mistake and I’ve now binned it, given up on the benefits the APS-C gives for wildlife photography more than outweighed by the lousy IQ. The 7D I’m afraid is a poor camera and I know a number of photographers who feel the same

God help us – the original 7D was a bit mushy with too many small pixels on the tiddly sensor, so this will probably be another canon QA nightmare

I have 2 5Dmk2′s and a 1Dmk4 …… BRING ON THE HIGH RESOLUTION !!! The more the better…. Seriously. I would shoot Medium Format if I had the money…. Cameras will improve with ISO ability every time a new one is developed… its just the way it is… ALSO, for those hating on Canon Lenses…. I have all L Series lenses and they are sharp as hell… Maybe your focusing is not very good?

Im not sure if anyone knows or not but the 1Dmk4s has not been developed yet…. so this story is a bit silly……

Wow, Aaron…. you can’t honestly throw -down on a digital slr because you are pissed that you can’t afford that high-end DSLR that look so damn pretty wrapped around our shoulders. Digital processing allows for infinite possibilities regarding pre- and post-processing, and cannot be simply seen as a cheater’s version of whatever it is that YOU are shooting with. Shame on you. I am a student, and CAN play devil’s advocate, and I know that there are pro’s and con’s for any camera type- build or model, but what can you honestly base such a shallow argument upon? We ALL shoot digital…what’s the problem???
