Nikon 35mm f1.4G N AF-S ED

Is Nikon about to release another Full Frame DSLR owner’s dream lens?

Nikonrumors.com has photos of what may be the new Nikon 35mm f1.4G N AF-S ED prime lens.  They look fairly real, but then again, people have gotten really good at creating fake images of supposedly new products.

On the other hand, this is a lens I’d expect to see soon from Nikon.  Many Nikon shooters have been complaining for some time about Nikon’s lack of up-dated fast primes, and this beauty would definitely appease.

Price would likely be over $2,000 USD if the Nikon 24mm f1.4G N AF-S ED is any indication.  Really, I don’t see the need for these primes to be this expensive, but then again, if people are buying them, then you can hardly fault Nikon for charging the big bucks.

If this is indeed the new Nikon 35mm f1.4G N, then I’d expect it to be announced soon.  Usually once the leaks start, an official announcement isn’t too far off.  And, despite the expected $2K+ price tag, this lens will still sell like hotcakes.

Me, I love my little Nikon 35mm f2.0 AF-D.  Works beautifully, weighs nothing, and is a stellar performer.  Cost me about $2K less than this new too!
