Canonrumors is suggesting there’s a new waterproof camera coming down the Canon pipeline. They’ve seen Canon Canada replacing broken D10′s with brand new cameras instead of doing repairs. This is usually a good indicator of a model replacement coming.
When production starts to wind up on a product, spare parts become in short supply. It becomes cheaper and easier to just replace a camera than to repair it.
Begs the question… what will the replacement be? Canon’s latest trend in compacts has been to hold or reduce sensor size to gain high ISO performance. Will that trend continue with the D10 replacement?
And what about video? The D1o has 640 x 480 video. Will we be seeing HD video on the D10 replacement?
