Several reports are out there about Canon 24-70mm f2.8L IS sightings. One has even claimed to have held the beast according to CanonRumors.com.
This is a long awaited lens for the Canon faithful. Not just for the IS version, but for a newer, better engineered version of the Canon 24-70mm f2.8. Sample variation is horrendous on the existing lens, and many a Canon shooter has gone through several samples before finding one that is good. Even then, the lens seems to creep out of tolerance fairly quickly, requiring servicing.
This is a mainstay zoom for many shooters, so here’s hoping that the rumors are not only right, but that the coming Canon 24-70mm f2.8L IS performs flawlessly and without sample variations. Come on Canon! Bring it!
