Word on the etherwaves is that Canon is going to release a 14-24mm EF 2.8L lens to compete with the superb Nikon 14-24mm.
A lot of Canon people are going to be really happy if this one is true.
Competition is good. Good for consumers because it gives us more products, better products, and lower prices. Good for the companies because it forces them to stay cutting edge and keep raising the bar. Good because new gear makes me a happy photographer.
The 14-24mm f2.8 has been a great seller for Nikon. It has made many a Canon shooter jealous. Paired with the 24-70mm f2.8 and the 70-200mm f2.8, Nikon has a trifector of top in class zooms. Canon has had the edge in prime selection, although Nikon has started to catch up. Now, Canon is catching up in the zoom department.
There’s never been a better time to be a gear-head.
