Wireless Problems

Hi everybody

My current gear includes a 5D, a 1Ds MkII, a wireless transmiter and a range of lenses.

I've been using my 5D along with the WFT-EA1 connected via USB2 and the flow towards my MacPro was perfect!!!

Two weeks ago I bought the 1Ds MkII (brand new and not 2nd hand) and I tried to connect it to the transmiter via firewire. before connecting, I tried to upload to the camera some new conenction settings via the software. When I connected and ever since, I keep on getting a "error 1" message which means that there's a antenna-connectivity problem. If however I connect the transmiter back to my 5D, everything is OK

Any ideas on what's wrong?

Re: Wireless Problems

I read at an other post in this forum that the problem could be caused due to non-functioning firewire cirquits-port on the 1Ds
1. Can I test this by myself before sending the camera to Canon?
2. How possible is for such a problem to occur at this camera, especially when the camera is less than a month old?

Re: Wireless Problems

I finally sorted things out. First of all it wasn't a faulty firewire cirquit.

When I initially set-up the package, I uploaded a settings file containing an SSID along with a channel number NOT suppported by my wFT-E1a. You see my WFT is the "a" version meant to be for US and Canada which is identical to the non-a version, however it supoprts channels 1-10 and not 1-13. I think that my initial setup had a channel 13 on. Anyway that attempt blocked my wft and everytime I shwiched it on (and while connected to the camera) it was going crazy because it was "ordered" to work at a channel which it couldn't work. However, before going crazy, the wft was giving me 2-3 secs of inactivity, during which I could navigate within the wifi settings menu of the 1ds. What I did is I entered the menu of the camera and switched from setup1 (faulty with ch. 13) to setup 2 (blank) and...EVERYTHING OK. No error 01!!! All It took was some practice to manage and navigate FAST and before the wft attempted to connect
