Canon WiFi to Windows - Please Help!

I am using the Canon WFT transmitter to a macintosh and it is working okay (a hassle, but it works). I need to transmit to a windows pc so that I can do an instant slideshow using AceeDCee (sp?) since none of my mac programs do that auto update of the slideshow contents. I had planned to use Iview Multimedia, but the slideshow won't update as more images are transmitted into the watched folder.

I'm not able to get the transmitter to see the pc ftp server. I get an error message #41 "cannot connect to ftp server". I used the exact same ip settings on 2 different macs, and on each one I was able to make this work. For the PC, I created the same name for the login and password, same ip address, I opened the port in the firewall (and even tried with no firewall), but the transmitter will not see the ftp server.

Is there a step that I'm missing? Any help would be wonderful. Of course, I waited until the day before the job when I have to do this.
Thanks!

Re: Canon WiFi to Windows - Please Help!

I have an update. I was never able to get the wifi connection to the pc, but I was able to get the wifi conneciton to a mac, then I networked the pc and mac together and told ACDSEE to look a the folder on the mac. That part works, but guess what? The slide show on ACDSEE doesn't update like I thought it would. I have to stop the show, then it updates and then restart the show. Not quite the automatic update that I saw presented at WPPI.

Rather than fuss with this, I took a close look at my copy of TEPS 2000. It has a slide show feature and turns out it does exactly what I want. It makes a slide show from a "watched" folder. When a new image is added (from the wifi tranmission) that new image is posted on the slide show, then it goes back to the rest of the images in the folder and continues the slide show. The only drawback is if I take several photos quickly, only the most recent image is displayed even though all images are in the program.

I would still be curious if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong with the PC connection to the WiFi. And maybe there is a setting in ACDSEE that I don't understand.

Any advice?

I opened the port in the firewall

Is it possible you opened the port on the Hardwired LAN connection, instead of the wireless LAN connection in Windows Firewall?

Re: Canon WiFi to Windows - Please Help!

If you can give us the details of your network setup, as well as what FTP server package you are using on the machine we can provide more specific guidance on where the problem may lie. There are a number of settings that could cause this type of problem, so the more detail you can provide the better we will be able to help

PS Sorry for not answering this sooner, didn't notice the post until the previous response put it back at the top of the list.
