Canon WFT-E1 problems with 5D

I've found an interesting problem. I've been able to get my WFT-E1 to work with a 1Ds MkII and 1D Mk II, but not with a 5D using the same settings. All cameras have the latest available firmware. I'm using Windows XP as the ftp and a Linksys access point. With the 1Ds MkII and 1D MkII files transfer as expected. Using the same settings on the 5D results in an Err 41.

Not sure what's going on.

James

Hmm, certainly an interesting scenario - are you using one WFT-E1 and moving it between the three cameras, or does each have it's own transmitter? Also, if you can give us a basic summary of the settings you are using it would help to try and identify what might be happening here.

Re: Canon WFT-E1 problems with 5D

James,
check the S# on the transmitter. Here's a link to Canon's service note on a recall. The 5D is more suseptable to RF issues than the 1D series of cameras. You should know that I had a transmitter that was beyond the S# range listed and had numerous problems getting it to work. Because it was beyond the "magic number" Canon required me to spend a signifcant portion of my time on this earth talking to tech support. I hired a friend, who is chief engineer at a TV station to assess the problem and he felt it was an RF issue. I spoke with CPS (Canon Professional Services) and they sent me a new unit. Not one problem with it since the exchange!

Best...
