Lopoking For A Folder Comparison Program

Hi,
I'm on a XP Pro platform. I back up my data on multiple hard drives, and would like to verify that certain folders contain all the same sub folders & files. For example, my main drive has a folder named Acme Products.
In that folder are sub folders of each assignment. The sub folders are maned: #1234 Acme Pencils 5-8-08, etc.
I then copy the #1234 Acme Pencils 5-8-08 to the Acme Products Main Folder, on each of my external back up drives. The Master (Target) Folder is always the same. The program should NOT synch the folders, as nothing gets deleted from the master. I just want to confirm that my backups contain all the info in the Target Folder.
Sorry if this as a bit convoluted, but its past my bed time.
Any software suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ira

Re: Lopoking For A Folder Comparison Program

I use Beyond Compare for such things, though it has capabilities far beyond just determining if all the data in one folder is in another. It is primarily a tool for comparing/merging software bases, but can be set to do binary comparisons of files in folders. If an interactive experience is what you want, this could be the right approach - the results are presented as side-by-side lists of files.

XCOPY can be, with appropriate switches, asked what's not in a destination that's in a source folder (or list of folders). If I understand your request correctly, it would go something like this:

XCOPY /E /C /I /R /D /K /Y /H /L "C:\Photos\#1234 Acme Pencils 5-8-08\*.*" "E:\Backup\C\Photos\Acme Products"
