| Color Parrot Working Pro Feedback We have gotten back the results from a survey sent to 111 photographers.
All of the feedback was very positive. The only exceptions were a few problems with shipping which are being remedied. A few people had not had it long enough to comment on the performance.
We also had some suggestions to... |

| The CBL White balance tool This was a really good day here at World Headquarters, out where the West begins. I managed to get the entire X10 system for control of the patio and backyard lights working, and finished the installation of the new lock system on the door to my workshop outbuilding (made tricky by the 3.5"... |

No idea, because the filter container in which it has been shipped refuses to open. Its stuck. I and two other people have tried everything we can think of, and it looks like the only solution will be to cut... |

| I'm confused Hi, Drew,
On the Color Right Web Site (specifically, the page one is taken to by the "White Balance" tab on the Pro Photo Home forum pages ) appears this illustrative photo:

| Does the Color Parrot have a new marketing slogan? The latest marketing quotation "This sucker works!!" reminds me of the Looney Tunes segment where Buggs Bunny just made a sucker out of some schmuck and the character fades into a sucker candy with a label that says SUCKER! then fades back. |

| The missing link Shortly after the announcement of the Color Parrot here, somebody posted a link to the site of the manufacturer of another white balance diffuser - one I had not previously heard of. I have lost the link, and don't seem to be able to find it in the traffic on this forum.
Could somebody help me out... |

| 'Tain't so, McGee Well, now that the Color Parrot has a spiffy new name (two of them, evidently) and a new site and an updated description page, I'm afraid I'm going to have to quarrel with some statements made on that page (I had hoped they would have evaporated in the renovation), to wit:
I have no idea what that... |

They involved a "tabletop" scene of several colored... |

| ColorRight diffuser - basic technique Hi, Drew,
I had intended to post this not in the "COLORRIGHT Sales and Support" forum but rather in the "white balance tools discussion" forum, but I can't seem to find that (wonder where it went?), so excuse me for posting here.
There are at least two basic approaches to white balance... |

| Center Weightedness (Targeted) Demo of Color Parrot A few people have questioned whether the center-weightedness of the Color Parrot offers any advantage. I have previously shown basic examples of this. Here is another very basic example. This one should be easily repeatable by those who wish to embark on such matters.
These shots are taken with... |

| White balance measurement - "over the shoulder" There are some (Me, teacher, me!) who hold that the only way we will get a "valid" incident light white balance measurement with a diffuser on our camera, used from the camera position, is if (by good luck or good planning) the chromaticity of the illumination on the diffuser there is similar to... |

| Color Parrot - Variation in neutrality with angle of incidence? It has been conjectured that, owing to the difference in the transmissive chromaticity of the Color Parrot between its central spot and the surrounding annulus, it might exhibit a chromatic response that would vary with the angle of incidence of the arriving light on the diffuser face.
We recently... |

| Color Parrot - Color distribution across sensor frame Interest has been expressed in the distribution of color (luminance and chromaticity) across the sensor frame when a Color Parrot white balance measurement diffuser is in place, illuminated by a certain incident illumination.
Because of the inhomogeneity of the diffuser (its distinct "central" and... |

| Color Parrot - Central and annular acceptance Don't get all excited now - "annular" isn't the opposite of "oral".
There has been interest expressed in the transmissive chromatic neutrality of the central portion of the Color Parrot (at the overlay "spot") compared to that of the annular region around the spot.
Why might this matter? Well,... |

| Narrow diffuser pattern We continue to hear suggestions that perhaps, when making a white balance determination with a diffuser-equipped camera, used at the camera position for the shot, aimed at the subject, it would be advantageous for the diffuser to have a fairly narrow directivity pattern.
I wanted to give a little... |
