In a Photo News Today article announced here as a feed, Michelle Collins said:

"If you are an American and have ever lived within a 150-mile radius of a shopping center, then chances are you are familiar with that bastion of photographic elegance from the 80s and 90s, Glamour Shots. I believe their slogan was 'Glamour Shots: Making Mothers and Daughters Look Like Whores for over 20 Years.' "— Michelle Collins

Well, Michelle, I guess it takes one to know one.

In any case, When Carla and I were married in 1999, we did not have a professional photographer cover the ceremony, and we had all the studio shots done (post facto) at Glamour Shots. The results were lovely, and we have had many nice compliments on the pix by visitors to our home.

I don't know who michelle collins is, but Glamour Shots like any franchise type operation has a formula - be that for coffee, hamburgers or photography. Glamour Shots made a ton of money from what I understand, but the fad has faded. I was selling real estate back then and you could tell what agents went there for their promo photos vs those that went to a traditional photographer. "Glamour" photography has move into more of a soft porn these days, so perhaps Ms Collins' comments aren't too far off.
