| Re: Question on Wedding No signed contract or insufficient payment are both reasons to walk out on any job. Your original payment received must be named a retainer, which is non-refundable. The word deposit is refundable in most cases in the eyes of the law. Our PPA attorneys recommend that images made for a client, but not paid for, should actually be kept in good faith for 10 years! Of course costs should be contracted as market price when a delay is experienced. You could offer, if you thinks that funds are a problem, to allow the client to buy out the files - for a very significant price, including what is already owed. It also may be that the couple is having difficulties already and that wedding pictures are the very last thing on their minds. Do try to get your fee up front. |
