Wedding Brochure Critique

Wedding Brochure Critique:

Please critique my wedding brochure before I get it printed. In particular, the side with only 3 photos which is the outside of the brochure.

Thanks,

Mark Madere

Can i ask if you are aiming for high, medium or low budget weddings and are you aiming for traditional, PJ or a mix of weddings? It makes a huge difference as to what you are marketing for.

Medium to high budget weddings with a mix of PJ and traditional photography.

Because unlike your wedding cake, flowers, and gown<;>, a professionally photographed wedding and beautifully designed album will outlive the day, lasting for generations as a keepsake you will treasure forever.
I believe the first part of the sentence is an incomplete sentence. A semicolon is used to join two complete sentences or to provide an itemized list. In this case, your opening clause doesn't form a complete sentence. Replace the semicolon with a comma and you're good to go.

This next comment is a personal taste comment. People have so much invested emotion and money, they probably don't want to think about those items which might fail or not last long. So I'd forego the...

Quote:
Your flowers will wilt. The cake will be gone. Your gown won't be worn again. But your wedding album will last forever.
I was almost expecting to see, "And odds are, your marriage won't last," before the very last sentence.

I hope these comments help.

Ha Ha Ha. You got a lot out of a typo, Kevin. Well done.

Eh..Let it go to the printers. I've seen a lot worse. But if I were you...it's a lot for a B & G to absorb at one time. Again, if I were you, I would go find an English major at a local college to proof it and rewrite it. And don't order too many of these...I think you will get a lot of good suggestions here at Pro Photo.

Re: Wedding Brochure Critique

Some initial impressions.. are you 10 feet tall? I just get hit with the feeling you like to shoot from on high - could be the web/monitor making it look that way, but I don't like heights and so the images here make me feel uneasy.
The front and back pages are too boring..you have a headline on the inner top spread mentioning design, but I don't see much of it in this brochure. Maybe the mood I'm in lately, but the display/headline fonts you've chosen are cold and plain to me, not pulling me in emotionally.

But then I'm a 46 year old man, married for 12 years, so I'm not exactly your target market I suppose.

Check out Bride magazine and similar pubs for font, colors, layout ideas. It's what the brides are looking at and those publishers have more research dollars for choosing a look that works than we do.
