| Pricing help (calendar) My studio has been asked to bid on a calendar project. Specifically, a local radio station is running a "hottest couples" contest or some such. They will be selecting 12 couples as winners and each couple will be a month on the calendar. ("Mr. & Mrs. January"). So, they're looking for bids to shoot 12 couples and for the best image of each to be used for a run of calendars (I don't know how big the total run will be -- we haven't sat down to discuss it with the radio station yet).
I'm thinking $2500 total for the shooting and post-production, but I just kinda picked that number from nowhere. I'm assuming that it will take approx. 12 hours of shooting with myself and another photographer, plus an undefined amount of time in post (at least 1 hour/shoot to select and edit=at least an additional 12 hours). Call it a total of 25 hrs (which may be low); that would be $100/hr total or $50/hr for each photographer. Looking at it hourly, that seems low, but I don't know how one prices this kind of project. Looking at it on a per-image basis, that's about $200/image, which isn't bad, but again, I don't really have a point of reference.
Any thoughts -- too high, too low, need more info?
(I should add that we're in Cleveland, not exactly a major photo market, so we probably can't charge what you'd get in NYC or LA).
Any help is appreciated. Thanks! |
