Re: Asuka Wedding Books

You can get the old fashioned mounted albums from Art Leather and many other vendors. We have used the futura line with fairly good success. You can get details here www.almkt.com and artleather.com

Re: Asuka Wedding Books

Asher--some answers to your questions...

[ QUOTE ]

1. You wrote that you completed your sample book "in their highest spec product". What did you mean by this? It seems to me there was only one quality of print, just metallic or gloss finished. They are all printed on a 4 color press.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes--they're all printed the same way, but they're not bound or coated the same way. The highest spec product is what they call an EX Laminate--where the paper is coated to reduce scuffing, fingerprints, etc... The image quality looks roughly the same on all, though it's hard to tell without exact duplicates in different sizes.

[ QUOTE ]

2. Have you or anyone else made a book through Apple's iphoto? I'd like to see if someone has compared the various products somewhere.

[/ QUOTE ]
Not yet, though we're trying a number of other book makers, especially for proofing. Some are very, very cheap (MyPublisher is the one we're looking into for proof paperbacks).

[ QUOTE ]

3. Also which service make books with individual prints mounted on black paper or white frames etc like the good old days. I showed both Asuka and Graphisoft to one family and they asked for mounted pictures instead.

[/ QUOTE ]

Another really good service is Albums Australia. They work with very good labs, take your output and then mount them the way you want them, from traditionally matted and bound to digital. No Art Leather "pin album" types, which we're trying to get away from, actually. And you don't have to create them yourself (though you can design them--they assemble). Oh, and their dollar is economical right now in relation to the US and Canadian dollar.

Re: Asuka Wedding Books

Thanks Jamie for your reply,

The Aussie site looks good! They seems to be ahead on getting inside infor on new Canon cameras (at least Paul Pope seems to get stuff early) and Epson printers appear their according to rumor, earlier than in the USA or even the U.K. Also the Aussies are way ahead of us in time. So they know everything earlier while we're sleeping! So that explains why they are smarter, perhaps!

Well that will be ahelp and I may get oen book made from them to see.

I am trying to get some comprehensive idea on wedding books.

So anyone with comparative information who can post would be helpful.

Maybe I should ask Drew!

After all he must have a lot of experience with books.

Re: Asuka Wedding Books

I recently saw a book that was beautifully printed on fine art paper and it just blew away any commercially printed product I've seen.

Has anyone here tried the book kits available for use with the Epson UltraChrome printers? There are kits available from Red River, Moab, and Stonehinge. I'm considering ordering at least one as a sample and I'm curious to know if someone has had experience with these (or something similar).
