Re: How many websites will a bride look at?

The first thing that you should do is have a good look at how your web page is put together. I noticed that when I checked for "Whistler Wedding Photograhpy" on Google, I wasn't even coming up on the listing. I asked a graphic designer friend of mine to have a look at it, and the first thing he said was, "you have a frame page on your splash page, and the web crawlers won't pick up on that". He also told me to make sure that I have a good block of text on the splash page for the web crawlers to pick up on, and to not have a huge amount of flash on the page, as that doesn't register on the web crawlers either. All very good advice, and now my page is up in the top 10 referals on Google for wedding referals in my area.

Take some time every week to do searches for wedding photography in your area. With Google, the key words that the web crawler has picked up on will be in bold, so you can see how the key words are set up.

I don't think it hurts to be on wedding service sites, but I keep it to local sites that only deal in vendors in my area. If I have to pay more than $20.00 per month for a listing, then no way. A lot of the sites will give you a free link. Get together with other vendors that you work with, and swap links. I have a weddings link page on my site.

The other think to do is get a hit counter on your site. The free ones work great, and all you really need to know is what's the referal page for your hits, and where the hits are geographically. If you're getting all your hits from Mongolia, then you need to do something. If all your hits are coming from your target market, then you're on the money.

Also, most of the brides I deal with have set almost the whole thing up on-line.
