Proof Book Suggestion please

Hi,

One of the Lab that I use would make 11x17 prooof book with reasonable price!? I know some lab would have standard of 12 images per page for approx $6 a page. But anyone have suggestion of how many images would best fit into a page, and for what price do you think is good!?

The average # of images I would need to fit into the proof book is approx 1000-

Thanks
EL

At $6.00 per 12 image page, that works out $.50 per proof. My lab charges me $.40 per 4x6 proof (and there's cheeper guys out there), and I just put them in a photo album. Also, a 11x17 inch book is really unwieldy, and would be a nightmare to have to ship.

Take a look at Bay Photo (dot-com). They do excellent work and have a wide range of proof products. I highly recommend them. Unbelieveably fast turn around too.

In Photoshop, run Contact Sheet set up for 16 images per page, on an 8x12 sheet. That gives you individual contacts of 2x3 inches, full frame. You can have these printed at Costco for $1.99 per 8x12, or about $.12 per image. Go to Michaels and buy 2 - 12x12 sheets of paper with a festive design. (They have many wedding themed papers) Cut these to 8x12 and laminate them. These make up your front and back cover. You can also do a single image of the couple, with names and wedding date on an 8x12, as the first image. Then, take everything to Staples and have them wirebound everything together.

Re: Proof Book Suggestion please

I use Miller's to proof my images. They offer an 8x10 and 10x13 size option that can be 4, 6, 8, or 12 up per page and they will wire bind them free of charge. I get the 8x10 with 4 up and the file name listed below each image. You can do about 300 images per album in this configuration.

They also provide free software to use to organize and upload the images for the order and you can get an Art Leather cover to hold the album when it is finished from Miller's as well. You just upload and wait for it to arrive in a couple of days. Then just insert the album into the cover and you are done. The time savings of this is great.

Re: Proof Book Suggestion please

On an 8 x 10 sheet, I prefer not to exceed 6 images. Exceeding that makes the image so small they can't compare two or three images for their final selection. Upload them to your lab, or print them yourself. I bought my own wire binding machine and that way I don't have the expenditure of time running around. I made up some ordering blanks in the computer, also six per page and alternate these with the finished pages. I also use Art Leather blank mats, cut down to 8-1/2 x 10-1/2 as the front and back cover. 2 or 3 minutes after finishing inserting the order blanks in between the proof pages, the book is bound and I'm ready to call the bride and groom.

Re: Proof Book Suggestion please

I have used WHCC for my last two weddings. I did 11x14, black pages, images have a slight white stroke on them which is really nice. The book is spiral wire bound with a clear cover. I create my own custom 11x14 cover image with the bride/grooms first name and wedding date. Both brides were knocked off their feet and really liked the over size book. One book was 140 images w/ 4per page for $100. The other was 300 images, 6per page for $140. For me, I have bugeted $150 in my weddings package for the proof book.
