Yes I have, and it is what you want to use. When you tell Film Factory landscape versus portrait, you are telling it the orientation of the media, not the picture. Film Factory understands the tag of the JPG file, knows which orientation the image is in. If that orientation does not match the orientation of the paper Film Factory will rotate it for you.

There is an extra step involved with the print driver for using bordless printing as well. I suggest you get the manual and read the steps involved there. It works great once you get the hang of if.

Re: Digital wedding shoot:how do you print your pr

Problem with Film Factory is it (to the best of my knowledge) is not color managed. The whole point to doing this inhouse is the ability to have the proofs at least resemble the final prints..and (especially) what's on my monitor. Using really good IJ output for proofs makes it easier for clients to accept even better IJ output for final prints. They tend to get worried if the final prints don't look a lot like the proofs..even if the finals are a lot better.

No need to rotate images...I just leave them as they come out of the camera..all with the same landscape orientation.

Thanks! I'm still not clear on what the difference is between a "final" 4x6 print and a "proof" 4x6 print, given that they say the quality is the same. But I'll just call them if I decide to go that route.

Neither of those 2 are for proofs. Those are for final prints.

Page 6 is the Thrifty Output.
Page 7 is the Thrifty Quantity Output.
Page 8 is the Thrifty Proofing Output. That's the page you want to refer to. You can also proof at 5x7 for $0.35/print.

I have asked WHCC about this, and they've said there is no difference in how they process a print on a proof order vs thrifty output. Same machines, chemistry etc.

The only difference is workflow for them... you can't combine proof orders with other print orders, or vary sizes etc, etc. So they can set up optimized production on their equipment at different times to process specific proof sizes in large quantites. So basically they are set up to handle proof orders in a more efficient manner than smaller quantity mixed-size print orders, and they pass that on as a lower cost. Just think of it as a specialized kind of quantity discount.

That doesn't surprise me one bit. Makes a lot of sense, in fact.

Re: Digital wedding shoot:how do you print your proofs

Hi,

In the UK there is a product called The Image Box, a 6 x 6 Inch box which can hold up to 100 colour or Black/ White images. The cost per image is 50 Pence & £5 for the box. Has anyone used this product in the UK or is there a similar product stateside.

This would seem an ideal solution for wedding proofs & i would be interested in using it for the forthcomming wedding season.

Re: Digital wedding shoot:how do you print your proofs

Hi Charles,

I have a script that my proof action calls that first sees what orientation the image is, rotates it if necessary and then drops in the file number and my name on a black boarder on the front of the proof. I did not write these scripts and got them somewhere on the web a year or so ago but if you want them I have uploaded them (for a few weeks only) and the link is below. I do this so my wedding clients don't have to take the proofs out and turn them over to see the numbers on the back to order albums or prints from me. I also send the proofs to a lab even though I have an Epson 4000 because it is not worth the wear and tear on my machine and I get great C prints back for .35CDN.

Could you explain how one installs and uses these scripts? Thanks.
