Re: Sub-Contract Photographer, expectation?

I don't know about others, but I used my own cards.

Re: Sub-Contract Photographer, expectation?

I do this with one guy. We finish the day at his studio, where we download my cards, and discuss the days work. I get a check and go home with my cards for another download. I like it, as it's a no stress wedding, which is usually very enjoyable. He likes it, as we time sync our cameras, and he makes a killer slideshow that takes them through the day and blows away the video guys... t

Hi Joy,

U mention about keeping those photos for your own book. That raise me with another question. Subcontract is consider as work for hire. Since they employer would retain the copyright, but do you still get to use the photos for your own portfolio!?

I'll be starting this next month myself. Use my own cards and download to main photographer's laptop at the end of the day. His contract with the couple states that I can use the photos for my own use as excluding resell.

Re: Sub-Contract Photographer, expectation?

Well, this never was an issue because I was one of their first photographer's shooting digital. They contract I had signed didn't refer to digital images or using or not using them. Things may have changed from then, I wouldn't know - I'm on my own now.

Re: Sub-Contract Photographer, expectation?

As one who has 5 shooters....no you shouldnt use the images from another companies wedding in which you subcontracted.....unless you have permission of the studio you shot for, they in turn should have it on their contract that they can use the images for promotional use..blah blah

but its not right to just use the images w/o permission from the studio paying your way.....most require a no compete clause anyway, but not always.
