\"What Do Your Contracts Look Like\"

In the near future I will start accompanying several wedding photographers on some of their jobs. Looking at this forum over the past few weeks, I was wondering if any of you would mind sharing with guys like myself a look at a blank copy of the contract you use most often.

Thanks
Gary O.

Re: \"What Do Your Contracts Look Like\"

I'm wondering why you're asking this? First off, contracts (any that are worth the paper they're written on) have been designed to protect the photographer by an attorney. The photographer has usually paid good money to have that done. Sharing a legal contract is not the same as, say, a professional photographer giving you some lighting pointers on an internet forum. Contracts are not one size fits all. Picking up a generic contract form is asking for trouble.

Just wondering why you would want to see contracts.

Joy

Re: \"What Do Your Contracts Look Like\"

I once asked my lawyer to help me put a contract together for the 'ins and outs' of everyone I had to do business with on a sitcom I'm developing. My lawyer hadn't done this kind of work at the time but he was the one I trusted so I had to get a copy of a contract from a producer friend. The lawyer and I... we had to re-write new stuff for my personal needs.
It was good to have an overview of what's in a contract in general.

But I think that if a photographer wants to see a contract... they may have to find a buddy to show them one. It's a very personal thing in my view and I don't think that anyone is gonna show you their undies in a public forum.

Good luck,
Bill.

Gary,

There are a few books around with pre-made photography contract covering weddings, portraits, stock, etc. They are rather broad-based contracts, but that was the beginning of my wedding contract. I made numerous changes to it as I did more weddings and learned about new ways I could get $*#&%^*. One of these books might be good to start with if you are not ready to pay a lawyer to write one from scratch.

Hi Gary,

Visit www.ppa.com and look up contracts. They have contracts you can use and modify to suit your needs.

Kind Regards
