How do I loose the grain?

Please help me! Half the time all the dark colors in the portraits come out so grainy. Most are shot at around f5.6 and 1/30 to 1/60. ISO is 250.

Depends what camera you are using and how youre exposing the image.
What I sometimes do is select the area where the noise is heavy and use the despeckle tool.

Are you underexposing?

You can try Neat Image. I've found it's very effective, and it's a PS CS plugin.

I've even used Neat Image when I wanted to smooth out a person's face who has too many fine lines!

Use Neat Image, it really works wonders. Use the trial, it's unlimited with certain restrictions but to see it work is amazing. No digital photograher should be without software like this.

Hi !!!

I agree, Neat Image is an excellent way to reduce the noise (grainy look) of you high ISO shots.
