It does look like this article was written last year, but in any case...

I am not a professional photographer, just a big fan of photography, and I think I interpreted this article a bit differently than most of you who posted. I don't think it is a blanket statement on all Wedding Photographers, he just states that "The overpaid ones are the many who admit they only do weddings for the income" and they "should leave the work to the dedicated ones".

Nothing wrong with that statement...

I had two weddings - to the same woman, but in two different countries - and I can't say that I have one picture I could show you that even comes close to the images you guys post on your websites. I love browsing these forums if for nothing else just to click on the "signatures" to see your works - and 99% of the time they are truly great.

So as we used to say in Hungary - if it isn't your shirt, don't put it on. I wish I had any one of you at my wedding, you are worth every penny you charge!

Maybe this list was written for Aussie Photographers!
I do know one guy who had a ferrari and another who had a 20 y/o rolls Royce. Of course the other 10,000 wedding photographers around the country are probably driving the same 5-10+ y/o cars every other photographer I have ever seen is driving.

Maybe the group of Photographers they studied to come up with their figures was a select one. They probably started with Monte and asked him for a referal of 4 other photographers who he thought could help them with their study. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
