Yipes, ISO set at 1600, did portraits. Help?

Can anyone offer any help (not pity!)?

Last night I was doing some experiments, getting used to the D100 at 1600 ISO.

I went out this morning and shot some portraits. At 1600.

What was I thinking? I can't really tell you. I am trying to get used to the Qflash on the D100, and it always seems too bright to me for the setting that my Minolta meter gives me. So today when I metered and the image seemed WAY overexposed I just got frustrated with it and took off the flash. Thinking back I should have realized something was amiss, but I didn't. I'm just not used to shooting digital I guess and let my self get flustered.

Well, now I've got images that are fine in terms of the skin tone where there was lovely light. But the shadows are grainy and yucky looking.

Is there a program or some type of software that can help me?

If not, life will go on (these were TFP) - but here's hoping there's magic for dummies out there.

Thanks, Joy

Has anyone used Neat Image? How did it perform? Can you send me a before & after?

Greg

Noise Ninja. Eaiser to use than neat image and it seems it does a better job and is much much faster.
