New - Hi, etc.

Hi, new here. Found this site through DP review...

Anyway, a few questions! -

Is NOBODY on this site using a Dimage 7? I did a search but turned up nothing.

Are these forums (which are labelled as being for SLR users) truly such? I know rules are rules, but, come on.

I expected to see more pictures. It's awful dry in here.

How come there's no "rogalbraith" forum for general forum questions?

How come there's no "fine art photography" forum? Undeniably, even lowly photojournalism results in some fantastic stuff. I'm just getting started, am selling work, and need a serious fine art photography resource.

Last: sure would like to be able to preview these posts...

Re: New - Hi, etc.

Hello,
Like the previous poster said, this site unlike Dpreview is geared to Pro shooters and Press shooters the most. So the lack of Minolta info is understandable. There is a great amount of information in all the Forums. But I for one am hoping this site won't become full of posts asking whats an Fstop, and, how sharp is this cheap lens. Any way have a look around you will learn a ton from the grreat and friendly folks on this site, they are the best.

Hi Andrew
I'd suggest having a look on the compact cameras forum for references to dimage 7 users, I did a search and found several entries. And yes the other forums do tend to be concerned mainly with slr's where stated but I wouldnt worry about the odd reference to compacts
I agree more pictures would be nice but these forums arent really the place to come for critiques (although there are a few)and are mainly concerned with the practicalities of being a pro photographer using digital equipment, workflow/hardware/procedures/clients/pricing/copyright etc.
I also agree with you about fine art photography, that would be a welcome addition as far as I am concerned but as I understand it the site was originally intended for use by pro pj's and photographers working in related fields, fine art isnt what the site is about it would seem.

Re: New - Hi, etc.

Look here for a forum reguarding your camera.
http://www.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1024

I've found the 7 has excessive noise... so I don't recommend them to friends looking for digital cameras.

This is a portrait forum, fine art doesn't belong here. It is also a pro forum so the guys are using pro equipment for the most part.
