| Re: Just Starting Need Help By the way, to draw a further correlation to music and photography...
A professional musician HAS to be perfect. He works and lives on his reputation, and if it isn't there, he's out of a job. Many hours of hard work are put in perfecting his craft. The fundamentals are the most important: intonation, tone, accuracy, rhythm, balance. Photography is the same way. The fundamentals of the photographic process and using the equipment should be second nature. And out of focus picture is the same as being out of tune. Camera shake is the same as missing notes. There are no excuses. High standards are the key to success. There's ALOT of mediocrity out there. And plenty of just plain bad. These are the folks that, nonetheless, either know the business side inside out or are just plain lucky. Probably the majority are those who are only transients in the business, jumping in just long enough to think they're ready only to discover they are not. Lot's of those.
There's some successful photogs in this forum. Listen to them.
Best of luck
