Admin Notice: Forum Rules

FORUM RULES

To keep the discussion in all the robgalbraith.com forums at a courteous and professional level, please follow these rules. If you don't agree with these rules, please don't post messages at robgalbraith.com. Failure to adhere to these rules may result in temporary or permanent suspension of your ability to post.

1 Advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, SPAM, virus warnings and solicitations are not permitted. Currently, personal for sale listings are okay, only as long as they are an individual photographer selling his/her personal gear, and the for sale message is posted in the appropriate forum for that gear.

2 Rumours about unannounced products are not permitted. The robgalbraith.com forums are for the discussion of digital cameras, hardware and software announced or in existence now, not for potentially false rumours about what might be coming, or for information that breaks a non-disclosure agreement. By all means post wish lists of what you would like to see in future products, as representatives of numerous digital product companies monitor the forums. But without exception, rumours about unannounced products are strictly forbidden.

3 Posts that are inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, rude, mean, nasty, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law are not permitted.

4 Be civil and courteous. See number 3.

5 Posting of material to which you do not own the copyright is not permitted.

6 Make sure that your message topics fits the topic description of the forum. All the forums at robgalbraith.com are for the discussion of serious and/or professional use of digital technology. Discussions of a hobbyist or amateur nature are not permitted.

7 Don't quote the entire message that you're responding to, only the pertinent passage.

8 Limit ubb code images to no more than 500 pixel by 500 pixel JPEGs or GIFs, with a total compressed file size of less than 300K for all images. Multiple large and/or lightly-compressed pictures slow the performance of the forums too much for modem users, and can also make topic pages too hard to read.

9 Only post pictures when absolutely necessary, and when they are directly relevant to the topic discussion.

10 Don't use all CAPS in postings.

11 Be nice. See number 4 and number 3.

12 The Sports Shooter Forum and Film Scanner Forum are the only area in which the use of film and film cameras, in addition to digital technology, may be discussed. This Specialty forum is for readers of Bert Hanashiro's Sports Shooter newsletter, as well as for pro photographers interested in discussing advanced sports photography in general.

To report forum activity that you believe contradicts these rules, send an email to forums-admin@robgalbraith.com or to msturk@littleguymedia.com . Please do not post messages in the forums themselves about postings that you believe are in contravention of the rules; send your message of concern to one of these email addresses instead.

FORUM TIPS

* A feature that allows the rendering of html code written into postings is turned off. This is to prevent pages from incorrectly displaying if a poster places incorrect html into a message. It is still possible, however, to include links, add bold and italic type, and even place pictures (no more than 500 pixels x 500 pixels) into postings using UBB Code. To learn how to do that, see UBB Code Explained.

ABOUT THE MODERATORS

The right column of the robgalbraith.com forums main page lists the moderators, the registered members of the forums who have agreed to oversee that forum. Note that the moderators, including the administrator Rob Galbraith, may not be able to read all messages, and may not be able to even visit the forums for days at a time, if other work commitments intervene. As such, registered members need to ensure that their own posts meet the criteria as set out in the Forum Rules. Please adhere to the rules listed in the Forum Rules document and the forums will continue to be a great place to exchange information among professional and serious photographers.
