Re: D1x skin tones and resolution

Hi Norbert,

Sorry, it's not for sale - I'm keeping it for a backup camera.

>How would you compare the quality versus your Fuji?<

The quality I'm getting from the D1x is awesome, in a different league altogether. However, some of this is no doubt due to the fact that I've invested in the Nikon 28-70 f2.8 AFS lens (that alone was a whopping £1300 - around $2000)

If you would like to see an image which I did at the wedding I photographed today, here is the link:

Re: D1x skin tones and resolution

Carol, I've tried emailing you without success so I'll have to contact you through the Forums. When you add photos to your posting could you shrink the pics
to less than 500 x 500 pixels, and less than 100K per image. At about 450K
total for two pics, it takes 2-3 minutes for the page to download over a
fast modem, for which we receive many complaints. Thanks-Mike

Re: D1x skin tones and resolution

Mike,

I've replied to you - don't forget that I'm in the UK, so if you e-mail me late afternoon, it will be way past midnight here.

I have removed the images to keep everybody happy, that way if they want to look at them they just click on the link, OK???

Carol nice photo, good tonality but why no filter to get the sky section a little blue.

Re: D1x skin tones and resolution

I tend to work quick and fast at weddings Norbert, screwing filters on and off wastes the couple's valuable time, so I rarely use filters - if need be I can always Photoshop a blue sky in later <s>.

Re: D1x skin tones and resolution

Quality from camera is excellent.
I'd like to see that same image/crop
converted from RAW using another program instead of bibble.
It appears that it makes for yellow highlights from the DX images which is similar to what I got from the D30.

The eye looks nice, but that yellow page in the upper cheek highlight is nasty.
I'm assuming this is a bibble problem as I saw similar results with bibble conversions of the kids I shot.

Ron,

Image at http://www.carolsteele.btinternet.co.uk/baby_1b.jpg is the raw file processed through Bibble and the image at http://www.carolsteele.btinternet.co.uk/baby_1c.jpg is the raw file processed through Nikon Capture 2
