again to Ron !!!!

Hi Ron , emailing from Ireland, I shoot with a Kodak dcs 520 lots of newspaper work!!!, shoot with a hassie for portraits, but I really like the digital and I am thinking about the dcs760 which means I would have to sell all my Canon gear probably at a huge loss, but I know you shoot with the D30 in studio work , is it your only camera or do you back it up with medium format and have you got back the 20 by 30's of your daughter?? how do they look??, I think the largest my portrait would go is 20 by 24 could the D30 handle it ? as I also have Genuine Fractals???. Many Thanks Mick

Re: again to Ron !!!!

I don't frequent often this time of year, I shoot in the studio only 3 months really, and this is the time... so it's 12 months of work in 3 months.

I've shoot only children in the studio with the D30. I did use it - to shoot a couple with a cat and dog as well as shooting film and the D30 saved the day. I had to retouch the image digitally (excessive amounts) to make the animals look good. But I don't have time to use digital cameras for the bulk of my work. (digital is far to time consuming to be profitable for me - the bulk of my business is senior portraiture).

I will shoot an occational senior shot or two through out the summer with it. (I'll shoot film and usual but if I get a good subject/shot, I really like I'll dupe it digitally, simple to have a copy for my site and to share.

I usually use RZ6x7's - I have one for indoors and one I use outdoors. (so it dosn't fog up when moving from AC (68 degrees) to humid hot outdoor air 80-95.

If I run into a problem, I may shoot some D30 stuff (seems I get 1 person a year with a crooked eye or something that I could fix digitally) so it will be on stand by.

I did use the D30 for copy work a couple days ago. Someone brought in a 16x20 taken by another photographer which had faded horribly and they wanted copies of it. I shot it with the D30 in ambient light in the waiting room, fixed it a little digitally and it looks much improved. Will make prints from the digital shot of the original.

If you wanna contact me quicker - email me from my site. www.houseofphotography.com
I'll be scarce until Late Sept.

Re: again to Ron !!!!

opps missed one question of yours.

No - I haven't had the large prints made yet, soon. Next week the lab that does them has a open house and I'll be visiting. Will be making 16x20 or 20x24 and will probably try a 24x30 or 30x40 for the studio wall.

Check with me in a couple weeks.
Biggest so far has been a 16x20 which was so good (as good as my 6x7 neg images) that I'm sure I can get a 20x24 and I'm optimistic of a 24x30. 30x40 might be pusing it - but in the window it will be seen from a pretty good distance, so I might still be worth trying.
