ANYONE SUFFER LACK OF SHARPNESS

Hi everyone , I have just purchased a 28mm 2.8d Lens for use on the d1 as a standard lens. Expecting this lens to be sharp, I photographed my daughter as a test. The settings were as follows f11 @ 1/60 using the sb28dxas a fill. From a distance of about a metre with sharpening on . However when viewed on screen @100% there is softness
around the nose, I focused as a i would normally,Shouldn't the lens set at f11 have compensated for perhaps a tiny error in focusing .

Hard to say without seeing the shot, the softness could be due to any of several things... Got it around to put online?

If you were focused at 1 meter, your DOF should have been from 0.6 meters to 2.3 meters. At f/11, I do not suspect diffraction being a concern (I would have if you had closed down any further with the D1's 11.8 micron sensor).

Do your findings repeat themselves?
