Re: Need some view points

mpphoto.

Ron has stated several times that quality is it main concern.

This is of course contrary of what you hear or read abaut Web Design. Most writers make emphasis on fast loading because people will leaf if it takes too long.

This is not always true, and not true at all when it comes to people you look for some thing special. These interested folks are willing to wait what it takes to get what they are looking for. After it shows up you better make them happy, rewarding them with quality and getting their business.

To achive quality Ron already mentioned the basics "quality in quality out" but post processing in PS is as important, and knowing PS is a must.

I agree. Especially if the website is for the purpose of showing high-quality photographs. I never believed in designing websites for the lowest common demoninator unless you really want that kind of client.

Re: Need some view points

Ron,
Looks cool. I would make the TITLE that is in fron of the image BOLDER and put a slight gray screen over the photo OR cut the opacity of the photo to 85% or even a little less to you see it well, but it does not compete with the title, YET you still see it and reconise it. Play with the opacity in PhotoShop/Layers till you get what you want.....

Good Luck

Re: Need some view points

Mpphoto - I'd LOVE to get a scan from you - 6x7 or 645 neg would be best. I use Fuji NPS.

I'd like to see Best res - stick it on a website and I'll pull it off. I don't know if I can recieve it in email. I think I'm limited to 3mb file attachments. 50-80mb file not a problem to download. (I could even receive it ICQ) I'd send you a 6x7 neg of mine if you'd like to scan it.

My usage for the scanner would be to scan a neg on occation if something has to be digitally corrected in photoshop.

(yes I post process in pshop a little).
mainly cleaning out dust and lines that I get when scanning the pictures. I adjust levels a bit and try to make the pics as closely as possible to the original print.)

Hey Ron,
It's a great splash page and you can feel good about it's presentation.
I feel the same as Myron that the letters which overlay the photo on the wall need a little separation. They're getting a little lost.

Re: Need some view points

yeah me to (seperation) which is why I threw the background out of focus. This would be more realistic if approching a door. If I were to cut down the backgrournd a little, it might not have the same realistic effect. But I can give it a shot. Maybe darkening it would do it. (as if internal light is darker than external light.

I'm not that worried about the name being that readable. (they know the name if they typed in the url). Most people that go to teh site know the name, from yellow pages or see it in our brochure and go there for more samples. So I'm more after the 'look' and 'affect' rather than making the name readable.

The splash screen is really old news. (what we've been talking about more recently is the senior gallery pages). Those are the areas I've worked on recently. I need to get at the main menu page now and format it for 800x600 rahter than it's 640 width size it presently has.

I need to dig up some family and children samples to re-do the main menu page. Thanks for the comments, I might play with the seperation of the splash screen again.
