Ron,

Thanks for the info on web programs. I currently have none so which 'one' program would you recommend?

Re: Need some view points

thanks for all the tips, will use some of them.

TomC -Best of all the programs for your needs?... that's a hard one. I guess if your just starting web creation then frontpage will be the easiest and will include the most features to do the entire job. Director includes a language (called Lingo) and is more like making a multi-media show and is the most complex to learn but the most powerful. To see my Director site check out my personal kite site.
GO HERE and CLICK "NEW SITE" http://www.houseofphotography.com/kramer/kites.htm
This is a Director site - lots of sound, animation, fun stuff. but you must have the shockwave plug in to see it. So this is fun, but if commercial - some people may not bother to get the plug in and may not see your site.
Flash is similar and more widely used the plug in is standard with most browsers. But flash sites are not as powerful as Director sites. Here is some flash from a site I work on...
http://209.240.137.147/new-site/540.htm

Fireworks is a graphics program that is designed for making web graphics. It's a great tool and was used for many of the primary pages on this site I'm working on... http://209.240.137.147/new-site/index.htm
If offers unparalleled control over buttons, mouse overs and absolute positioning of page elements but can be a bit complex to use. I also then import the fireworks pages into frontpage to publish to the site.
So with all this said... Frontpage would be the best starting point. I did my entire studio site on it back in 97 with it. See it here. http://www.houseofphotography.com
Like I said - it's out of date so I'm hoping to spice it up. Also - the composites and photo editing was done with photoshop. With these two programs you can get a site online with ease.
Oh one more thing, a simplier version of frontpage comes with more recent versions of windows. 98 and later I think. I think it's called frontpage express. You may already have it and it's very capible of letting you build a basic website with graphics and photos. Other simple sites I've done. http://www.kramerintl.com http://www.kramerintl.com/kami (my daughters) http://www.houseofphotography.com/kramer (our family site no frills, but fun stuff - click on the pictures for more...) http://www.prismkites.com (older vers of site I'm working on)

Re: Need some view points

ok Folks - here's another re-work as per some comments. I think the plant will help give the depth required to allow it to look like a floor instead of a counter?

Carol, thanks for that statistic. Very meaningful and necessary to take into account.

Re: Need some view points

Ron, MHO is: put a door frame arround with a door handle or a knob and the word "Enter" if this is meant as a splash screen. Also photograph the framed picture behind a glass often seen in frontdoors.

Don't forget to look at Carols Statistic 800 is the way to go for now.

This fancy stuff is only worth if you want to reach this particular audience.

And last You Forgot Go Live which is easy and every body has PS and IR. Seems the one to use.

Re: Need some view points

I've thought about a handle.. but the 800x600 format doesn't lend itself well to being door shaped or framed.

I have go-live, but haven't used it. I don't know what PS and IR are that you mentioned.

Re: Need some view points

Your second version is definitely better! However, if only you had my old Bachrack 8 x 10 mahogany camera in the righthand side! People who get their portraits done love nostalgia. Also, maybe a slight glow around your letters to seperate the background color from the letters? Just a thought. Its pretty good as is.
