Re: UK visitors only

I'm in Ireland, but repairs here are sent to Nikon UK - my D1 was returned to the dealer on 26 Feb, and they still have it, and don't know when they'll have the parts they need...I've just started shooting school pics professionally using the D1, with a whole workflow set up to do it digitally, and don't want to return to film. I'm lucky that the dealer was able to lend me a Fuji S1 for the last month. He has just managed to persuade Nikon to issue me with a D1 on loan until mine is fixed - though I've yet to see it. The only reason paid the extra and bought the D1 over the S1 in the first place was the mistaken assumption that it would be less likely to break.

Roy,

It's internal battery died - supposed to last 10 years according to the manual, and went after 7 months (under warranty). For a long time previous to the battery going, it was creating new folders at random, with the first few files in the new folder bearing the same filename as the last few in the previous folder.
