Re: Vendor Suggestion

I don't think you're supposed to put something like this in this forum.

Re: Vendor Suggestion

The posts in question have been moved to the appropriate area of the forum where vendors are free to post their Photography related advertising.

Drew's Policy:
Quote:
Most forums will not allow any vendor posting so they institute various policies in an attempt to police this activity. However, Melissa and I would like to have a much more open policy. We understand that a lot of our very valuable professional photographer members also offer valuable products and services.

So, in an attempt to keep this simple for everyone. Here's the new policy.

1) Please feel free to promote your product or service in any of the forums, either as a new post, or a relevant reply to an existing post.

2) You MUST put in parentheses in the SUBJECT LINE the following phrase- "(Vendor Suggestion)"

3) This label needs to be used if you have any vested interest in, or direct marketing relationship with said product or service.

4) Any posting that is deemed to fall into this category that is not labeled as such will be relabeled appropriately by Melissa, myself or another moderator.

5) Repeated failure to follow this policy will result in the individual user being restricted to posting only in the vendor forum.

Just to clarify a bit more.

If you are a vendor by no means do you need to add this label to all of your posts. You would only want to do this when you are taking off your "photographer forum member hat" and putting on your "vendor product or service hat."

This policy is not meant to discourage such posts. Having been a vendor of photo software on other forums I fully understand the need and usefulness of sharing this type of information. It is needed so that a casual reader of the forum is made aware of the nature of the post.

We reserve the right to update this policy at anytime.
For future reference, this is the appropriate area of the forum to post vendor advertisements:

Re: Vendor Suggestion

I would only quibble with the fact that I could not find his real name anywhere. Before he took off his "photographer forum member hat" and put on his "vendor product or service hat," he should somewhere have put his real name.

Re: Vendor Suggestion

I sent the vendor copy of the name policy as well. For the newer members it is as follows:

Quote:
Just a reminder that we are not an anonymous forum community. We are a professional photography community.

As such, it has been, and will continue to be the policy that we use our real names in our profile.

Please make sure that your display name is in line with our clarified policy.

Your Display name should be your real full name (first and last)

Alternately, you may use one of the following. When choosing one of these options you must include your real full name (first and last) in your signature line and your signature must appear at the bottom of all of your posts.
a) Your company name
b) Some easily identifiable portion of your real name
c) Your real nickname

How to edit your signature: login, click on the "user cp" link in the top right of the screen, then click on the very first option on the left, "edit signature."
How to edit your display name:Email me or pm me your edited display name and I will change it for you. Email to: elmo@prophotohome.com

Clarified Avatar Policy:

The logical continuation of this policy is that all avatars should also be your photograph. The avatar is meant to help people get to know one another, not to show off your latest graphic design. Although, I must admit that some of them are quite cool. Please be as creative as you want in your signature line. Put your cool avatar that you use on all the other forums in this space. There is a lot more room to express yourself there anyway.

In this forum, the avatar should reflect some recognizable semblance of a headshot of you. If you want to Photoshop out wrinkles, put a cool glow on it, etc., that is fine.

If you would prefer not to post a headshot you certainly do not have to do so.

After September 1st, 2006 the moderators and I will edit any profiles not following these policies. We will not provide individual members any advance notice of these changes.

How to upload an "avatar":

You can upload an "avatar" to your profile in your "user cp" section.

Simply click on the "edit avatar" tab in your "user cp" and then upload your avatar (80x80 max pixels, may be smaller) (.gif, .jpg, .png accepted)

Browse to your head shot image and upload it.

Thanks,
Drew
