Lexar Card Reader Will Not Leave Explorer

Thanks to all the post to my question re Multiple CF readers.
Here's where I am now.
Running Win XP on a fairly new Dell 390 Workstation. I installed two Belkin Firewire 800 PCI cards, updated to the latest drivers, hooked up my external Firewire 800 drives, and all is well.
I then plugged in the Lexar Firewire 800 card reader. The images download nice & fast, but when I right click "eject", or remove the card manually,
the reader "stays" in Windows Explorer, and the system hanks. It can literally take two minutes for the reader to "dismount". During this time, the computer is useless. I have contacted both Lexar second level support, as well as Belkin, with no answer. Any ideas? I'm thinking about trying the Sandisk equivalent.
Thanks,
Ira

Re: Lexar Card Reader Will Not Leave Explorer

is the reader in its own FW800 port or are you daisy chaining it off the hard drive? i would try it in its dedicated port.

Re: Lexar Card Reader Will Not Leave Explorer

The reader is in it's own port, directly into the card. I tried all the ports on both cards, and also tried another reader w/the same results.
Although they are both Belkin cards, they are different. One has three firewire 800 ports, the other two 800 firewire and two USB 2.0 ports.
Its a shame that the speed gained via Firewire 800 is lost, plus extra time is wasted waiting for the reader to unmount.
I guess its one step forward, and two steps back.
BTW, any other Firewire 400 or USB readers unmount in about a second.

Why are you unmounting the reader?
