CF Card Recommendation

I'm looking to pick up a couple of CF cards for my 5D. I don't do any high speed shooting. I rarely shoot more than a shot a second, if that. I've used Sandisk Ultra II 2GB cards in the past, and would like to go up to a 4 or 8GB card. Transcend 133x (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820208339) cards sell for about 1/2 the price of the Ultra IIs, and even less than the regular Sandisk. Other than write speed, is there a reason (reliability, etc) to buy a more pricey card?

Check this out...and they have a SDHC 16GB for those who use dual media as realtime backup. I never had any issues with Transcend. Link:

Re: CF Card Recommendation

I love the extreme 3 cards. Calumet has a rebate going on the 8gig and 12gig. I picked up a couple of the 12gig cards. Check into it. Hope this helps

Re: CF Card Recommendation

Don't discount buying a little faster card today.

It's not that you shoot only a frame per second and don't need the write speed. It's on the other end, downloading, that faster cards tend to make a difference.

The other factor to consider is that eventually, you may move to a newer camera where that speed will make a difference.

It's tough to predict, but a general rule of thumb is that with things (still) a moving target, to buy the largest, fastest, best of everything today and cry but once!

Re: CF Card Recommendation

i have all extreme 3 cards, i buy more towards the larger cards available so i dont have to replace as frequently. i have 4gb cards, and a year ago i switched my MP count in 1/2, i have about 6-8 of them. i dropped the card outside in a north idaho winter only to find it next summer, with its label faded away, pollen, and 6 months of rain, snow and mud, it worked fine and all images uploaded perfect.
