Flash is not allowed and there will be strobes but not mine. The equipment that I am thinking of taking are as follows:
Canon 30D and 40D
Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS
Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f3.5-4.5
Canon EF 300mm f2.8L IS (this may be overkill)
Here are my questions:
1. From the above equipment, which would be the best to frequently use?
2. Since I am reasonably sure that I will have access to just about any section outside of the court, which would be the best section to place myself - baseline or sideline?
3. Which section of the baseline or sideline?
4. Is it best to concentrate mainly on individual shots or group shots (two or more)?
One other item; I am very familiar with the rules etc in most popular sports. However, basketball is not one of them. I realize that I need to do a fast study. Any suggestions on how I can increase my learning curve?
Thanks for your help

i dont use flash because of recycle time, i want all my frames per second. i use a 1d mark II, now 1d3, from the bleachers with a 70-200, on the floor 28-70.
move around, the sideline is a bit boring, i like to see faces running towards me. back in the day in highschool or on our own court, i would shoot with a 20mm lens on a film body, and crouch near the hoop, actually shot the whole game with the same lens, at 5 ft f2.8 basically got you DOF of the whole court. (it might not of actually, but i was in HS and didnt know it all, but the prints where ok).
i have brought a 300 but its alot of lens, your like way back and this is coming from when i used it on a film/FF body.
with my 1d i end up using the middle range of the 70-200 mainly if from the bleachers.
