Re: Sharapova photos

I'm weighing in late, here, but I might suggest trying Evaluative Metering.

I've spent a LOT of time shooting with Evaluative, and I'm really coming to trust it. It does seem to get things right on the modern bodies.

If highlights concern you, Evaluative with a -1/3 EV compensation yields a pretty consistent exposure set.

Re: Partial versus Centerweighted Metering

Tim,

Thanks for your detailed response. It is very enlightening. As you know, I am an advanced amature and getting a response like this from a professional like yourself means a lot to me.

Ron

Re: Partial versus Centerweighted Metering

I'm going to agree with Noel here on using evaluative metering. I think overall it will yield more consistent results than any other method, because by averaging the entire frame, the exposures will not fluctuate as much based on where the sensor happens to be aimed.

Re: Partial versus Centerweighted Metering

Ive had similar issues with a canon 40d and 70-200 2.8 is see my post
in the canon 1.6 forum, the problem has not repeated itself I have shot
a couple of sports events since then and metering has been ok
When I had the problem the temp was high mid to high 20's C
however other times the temp as been below the 20's C so I wonder
if temp has anything to do with it bearing in mind the autofocus issues
that the 1d mk3 had in hottish conditions...
