Getty Images signs exclusive NBA contract (rumor? not?)

Just saw this somewhere else on the web with absolutely no more information, other than it was in a normally reputable place.

The source was copyrighted so I can only paraphrase -- "G.I. would be the only official photo source for the NBA for several years."

Rumor? Fact? If fact, what does it mean to us all?

Call the NBA offices and ask them.

However, last I heard, each teams NBA photog was sending their film to a certain office in So Cal (Santa Monica or Pacific Palisades??) to be scanned/archived before being returned to the NBA.

Again, all of this should be able to be confirmed by the League office...

the nba now has an affiliation with allsport. the team shooters are now shooting digital as well as film, and are moving pictures out of arenas during the game. basically, they are now a wire service.
