Re: auto ISO?????

I think the Nikon system works very well, and I found it reliable. I wish Canon had it implemented so well.

Re: auto ISO?????

I shoot with a D2x and I find it is so easy to change iso that I've never even tried auto iso. I wouldn't be able to give up that much creative control to the camera anyway.

Gup.

Re: auto ISO?????

Wish I had it!

Like I told my second shooter this weekend, when I told her to kick up the ISO to 800; I can fix the noise, but I can't fix a blurry horse.

Re: auto ISO?????

I'm totally with the crowd that wants ISO treated as a first class citizen next to aperture and shutter speed. Especially now that DSLRs are handling noise so well at higher ISOs. I find that---after years of being terrified to go above ISO 200---I'm now shooting more and more at 800 and 1600. With the 5D, I often have no reason NOT to use higher ISOs. Certainly, there are many situations where I'd have no reluctance to let the camera adjust my ISO to facilitate freezing the action under Av or Tv. Too bad I don't have the option!

Re: auto ISO?????

I use this great and little used feature alot when shooting sports in full sun.
Just set shutter and app and let the ISO change from sun to shade.
It works well on my D2's.
The only problem is that if you shoot at 8 fps as I do with alot of work, auto ISO will slow things down to about 5 or 6 fps ( the number crunching must be time consuming).
It is a great feature that along with flash performance and ergonomics keeps me useing Nikon.
Cheers Gav

Re: auto ISO?????

I am currently shooting w/a D200 and have used this feature to shoot dogs during event competions outdoors and sports in full sun and late afternoon.

For me, I find it works quite well while in full sun; later afternoon I switch back to manually adjusting ISO b/c it was tending to keep things too bright for my liking.

Overall, I really enjoy the feature
