A discussion on Japanese business laws, and how they may be effecting the Canon - Nikon digital camera race, and who's leading the digital camera market at any given time.

Re: Are Japanese Business Laws Controlling The Nikon - Canon Digital Camera Race?
Did you actually do any research or is this just a bunch of conjecture based on nothing but a hypothesis and a subjective view of product histories? It would appear to be the latter, since I see absolutely no material here supporting a causal link. Not even a review of the regulations and their applicability to the camera industry.
It's been said that these Japanese business laws are why we see the up and down cycle of who's leading who in camera sales and camera performance between Canon and Nikon.
By whom? Where? When? Why?
What an interesting, insightful story this would be if it were true, but all I see is wishful thinking on your part.
Moreover, hiding behind a question simply because there's at least an infinitesimally small chance the conjecture is true—Are Japanese Business Laws Controlling the Nikon-Canon Digital Camera Race?—is dishonest. It's like penning an article entitled Obama Natural Born Citizen? or Todd and Sarah Palin to Divorce? Danger lurks.

Thanks for your well thought out comments Martin.
Uncle Bob comes up with some interesting, if not always believable, stuff.
We pretty much give him free reign on what he writes as we usually find it to be good for a chuckle at the very least.
As far as being dishonest, well you'd have to take that up with Uncle Bob. I'm pretty sure you'd lose that argument, but we'd love to publish it as I'm sure it would be a great read! Uncle Bob may be a little out there, but I wouldn't call him a liar. If he says he read something, I'm pretty sure he did. Now as far as him remembering what he read correctly, well, his memory isn't always the best, but then we're all guilty of that sometimes, aren't we!

I agree with Martin on this issue. As far as having read something, so what? You can read anything about everything. And the point is?
Rather than casting dispersions upon a country, its people, and two well regarded foreign companies, perhaps a bit of honest homework is in order first? And before we go looking down our long noses at silly governments in foreign lands with weird behaviors toward their free markets, we might want to examine our own governments and how they treat some domestic car companies and financial institutions. Just saying...

I don’t know who or what “Uncle Bob” is, and I don’t particularly care. I’m taking issue with you. You are the publisher of this drivel, it’s your “blog” and your name is at the bottom of the post in question, you’re here promoting your publication to our faces on this forum, and you bear responsibility for what you publish.
Have some standards.

I put 'Uncle Bob' on my ignore list a few weeks back as I had encountered this 'problem' on another forum. My solution there was to leave - I'd hate to see that happen here too.
Posting a link to an interesting article is one thing, posting solely to get attention is another.
Just my honest thoughts.
