I want to IGNORE the Photo News Today Thread!

The Photo News Today has cranked up it's number of postings lately and first of all, I don't care, because most of it is duplicated from other RSS feeds I already subscribe to; second of all, it's making it really annoying to find new posts by MEMBERS that I may be interested in. Click on the "Today's Posts" programmed search and what do I get - 80% or more "Photo News Today" posts that I don't care about and make it hard to spot member posts. Similarly, the same thing occurs when I use the "New Posts" search. Not to mention, Pro Photo Home's own RSS feed is almost nothing but repeats from other RSS feeds! I'm ready to delete it from my RSS aggregator.

This is a HUGE detriment in my opinion - it's annoying enough that I am only coming here every few days now - and I want the option to ignore this extraneous stuff!

Andrew

I agree completely.

Photo News Today only has snippets and links to the original article. So in the rare event that there is something interesting on the site, it's three clicks to get there from here.

Signal to noise ratio is deteriorating on ProPhoto.

Mike.

Perhaps Drew could configure an RSS feed that corresponds to the relatively clean "Recent Posts" view?

I would endorse that.

I think I'll just read a book unrelated to Photoshop.

Re: I want to IGNORE the Photo News Today Thread!

Hi Andrew,

You'll wish to bookmark the "Recent Posts" link in the main navbar to see only forum posts.

As far as the rss feed goes, I will see what can be done. However, I am in talks with a few folks about improving our "news" area entirely. We may (repeat, may) be able to have some more editorialized content in this area that would be of a more consistent quality level.

Funny thing, that's exactly what I have been doing, Drew. I was wondering what this thread was all about, because I had no such perception.
