wedding photography with tears

Today I have to photograph a wedding in my town, and all should be strait forward, normally if there is any tears its either the bride or the brides mother. Not today, today the photographer will have wet and watery eyes for at 6am my time my 14 year old Sussex Spaniel passed away in my arms.
I have bawled ever since, for 14 years she went everywhere with me,she was my confident, best friend. 20 years ago I had a accident whilst in the fire service that had me pensioned out. Even after 20 years I have recurring problems that lay me low for a couple of days, Maud would let me know a day in advance that the problem was about to happen, because she was like a cluck hen around me, never leaving my side, and washing my face.My house is like a morgue now, gone is the wagging tail reception, the total devotion, the chasing after toys. Thank God for auto exposure, because there is no way I could manually focus today with running eyes. and all it will take is one of the guests or the brides family to ask after Maud as most of them know her and I shall be finished for the day

Rob (Maud RIP)

Rob,

I have a lot of empathy for you in the loss of Maud. I am a dog lover and, after 12 years, recently lost our Miniature Schnauzer. They are truely mans best friend. To quote the philosopher Nietzsche, "The world was conquered through the understanding of dogs. The world exists through the understanding of dogs."

Re: wedding photography with tears

Rob,

My sympathies go out to you. I have had many good animal friends and have two right now. We always feel that we don't know what we will do without them, then the next one crawls their way into our hearts to ease the pain. The new does not replace the old, there are no replacements, the old made a place for the new one who needed a home.

There is a poem called the Rainbow Bridge, I read it occasionally and have to believe in heaven if only for the yearning to be with my animal friends again. The author is unknown....

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...
