[ QUOTE ]
Where do you find information for the Nik filters? I've never been able to find them.

[/ QUOTE ]

It took me for ever to find, but I knew I had read it somewhere. I asked Nikon UK and they denied it even existed but it does. I will try and find it again and post it if I do.

Re: Nikon says you don\'t need Photoshop

Nikon has the nik colorefex filter set on their Japanese site but only an "express" version ... I've been using it as a PS plug-in for years, definitely worth every penny - but if you're keen on PS and really good at it, everything can be done in PS too.

The article on nikonpro.com is really one of the craziest readings in the decade IMHO ... they would be able to make a far better camera if they hadn't waste much effort on these BS.

Re: Nikon says you don\'t need Photoshop

Don't get me wrong - I love Nikon Capture 4 and think it is the best processor for my NEF images. I wish it was faster but speed, like size, isn't everything. I still need PS for many other things, and would not be without either of them.

Re: Nikon says you don\'t need Photoshop

Nikon should face the reality ... Capture is ONLY a "problematic" raw converter (at this stage), Photoshop is a complete digital darkroom.

The choice should be left to the photographers ... if Nikon is so certain that NC can produce that better results than ACR, what they're afraid of!

Re: Nikon says you don\'t need Photoshop

I get a sense from some of these comments that people are afraid their hard earned photoshop skills may become redundant, replaced with by a piece of software, such as a RAW converter.

Nikon's thinking on this matter is correct because photoshop for photographers has primarily been a tool to fix problems and if Nikon can eliminate these problems at the capture stage then buying photoshop becomes an option rather than the necessity it is today.

Re: Nikon says you don\'t need Photoshop

And both Nikon Mall and BHphoto.com show Nikon Capture 4.2 as 'Out of Stock'... Why don't they just sell if as a download?
