Have we no expressed a desire for newer, better, faster, and lighter lenses?
Canon has dissapointed this PMA with nothing to exciting. Sure they came out with the wireless transfer but from what I have read it works but is not the most well thought out unit and has more quirks then pluses.
I'll bet someone at Canon is saying, "What the ...". I have no idea of the rest of the sentence as I cannot speak for Canon and I would hope they would not use bad language.
I would like to se new 2.8 or better in new lenses, not the ?-5.6 stuff their showing. Please help to express you lens needs or if you are happy with what they have.

Bart, I understand your desire to see improved Canon "pro" lenses. But I'm going to take the opposite stance and argue that Canon has in fact been introducing plenty of exciting stuff over the past year, right up to and including this year's PMA. Since last year at this time, Canon has done a complete and very welcome refresh to their entire DSLR line, beginning with the 1D Mark II (superb) at PMA 2004, then the 20D (superb), the 1Ds II (superb) at Photokina 2004, and now the Rebel XT (looks superb on paper). To say that Canon has introduced nothing too exciting at this year's PMA is off the mark; I am sure there are tons of people who have been itching to buy their first DSLR and a high percentage of them will be giving the new Rebel XT a serious look. I have no doubt that Canon will sell a zillion of them.
Getting back to the lenses: I would also like to point out that developing a high-quality optical system (lens) takes a very long period of careful research and engineering. Canon reportedly spent $11 million and many years developing its current super-tele line (released back in 1999) and it shows.

Thanks Eric, while I agree on the DSLR's, the "L" glass is still film based and needs to be brought to the digital age. Film does not lay perfectly flat when flying through the camera and almost all of Canon's lenses are taking that into account. The chip in a DSLR is flat and we need lenses that produce flat images. I would also like to see more weight reduction techniques used in the new build.

I'd like to see some Canon L competition for Nikon's 200-400 f4 VR lens, but I guess I'll have to stand in line behind the guys who want better wide primes for the full-frame dSLRs and, of course, a ton of EF-S lenses. The bummer is I could be dead by then.
I can't help it; if I'm going to buy a tank, I want it to do the walking for me...with twin rings and constant aperture, please. And this is all I want; I promise I will never ask for another lens.
