Mamiya ZD vs. 1Ds2 - any PMA news?

I believe that this camera will serve many pros better than the 1Ds MarkII. Is there any real news about the Mamiya ZD camera from PMA, etc.? I shoot manual focus / manual exposure 99% of the time, and I print big. Is there any ZD updates? Any ZD sample images? Im talking about the ZD one-piece camera, not the back.

Best,
Paul

Apparently I read earlier that Mamiya did not even bother to go to PMA. That is not a good sign in my book.

No kidding. Im pretty happy with the 1Ds in my hands, but I could see a ZD/ 1Ds backup as a workable combo for me -- but I dont want a balsa wood ZD

Too bad.

Re: Mamiya ZD vs. 1Ds2 - any PMA news?

Mamiya's new press release (see dpreview) indicates that the ZD is now in testing in Japan and they fully expect it will be available in the summer of 2005 (in limited quantities, of course). Of course the delay and no-show is a little disappointing, but it's just a few more months, and I'd rather they make sure they have a winner. Serious competition to the other medium format systems is just what the consumer needs.
