Lightroom versus Aperture

Ok, I will be receiving my Mac Pro this coming Monday (26th May) and I am really excited as this is my first apple. However I have no software to run it yet LOL. My Office 2008 and Photoshop CS3 is on the way and I am getting ready to slowly move across to Apple. I will still be using windows as in the mean time.

In windows I use CS3 for my processing and Breezebrowser for my quick viewing platform as well as cleaning or deleting my files. It has been a great combination for me. I also use Breezebrowser for quick web conversion for the web and forums and the odd qiuick raw conversion as well.

However Breezebrowser does not work with Apple. So I need a similar software like Breezebrowser.

Can someone advice which software I should get, Aperture or lightroom and if i get lightroom now do I get the free upgrade to lightroom 2?

Perry

Congrats on the Mac Pro, Perry. Both programs are available as trial software so download 'em both and see which you prefer. Aperture is Apple software so it ought to take advantage of core image and it will be fast in use. You may find that you prefer the Adobe paradigm for image editing. I felt that Lightroom owed a little to much to the legacy of Photoshop. YMMV

If you can get behind the concept of Aperture, it may just free your workflow up... if you do not need to much in the way of compositing images. As to your question about upgrading LR, just check with Adobe because they will give you a definitive answer that is relevant to your own circumstances.

Re: Light versus Aperture

There is no free upgrade to 2.0 for one. 2nd, I'd download the demo's of both and play. Some love one versus the other.
