Export issue with Lightroom 1.5/2

Even though all colorspace is matching (prophoto)...after making color adjustments in LR and then editing in an external app (PS CS3 also working in prophoto space and viewing in custom prophoto setting) the color are dramatically muted?

Furthermore after making adjustments in PS CS3 to compensate for the muted colors and using that same file on a website...the colors are now overly done (as though opening in PS C3 was inaccurate and I should just trust LR and left alone)?

I'm no expert on the subject, but it sounds like something is set differently in CS3. I am suspecting the Proof Setup in the view menu. Could be you are looking at a printer proof instead of the native space set. That would probably appear as you state.

Failing that, your last sentence sounds like a wise course.

Yea, I scratched my head over this a little today. Nothing Paul is describing matches my experience, which leads me to suspect that something isn't set correctly even if he thinks it is.

Yes, one check box was checked that is only visible by clicking advance in the color settings for PS CS3.

Desaturate for monitor by 20%...apparently a default for uncalibrated contrasty and bright LCD screens of the masses.

This answer was tipped off at the Lightroom 2 board.
He gave me his website which is excellent for setting up photoshop and preparing files for commercial printers like Costco's.

Jao's photo blog: A (mildly) Lightroom workflow for printing at costcos and getting superb color

Thanks!

Ditto. Now you DO need to view both previews at 100% to see 100% identical previews (lower previews are subsampled differently in each app). But the differences should be tiny there and at 100% preview size, both are identical on all my systems (Version 1 and the beta).

Paul, check your Photoshop color settings. Are they set to Preserve policies with all warning check boxes on?

Thank you all! It was a setting issue. That single desaturate for monitor checkbox that is only visible when the more options button is hit.

Problem resolved by delselecting the check box. Wish all of life can be that simple.

Bests,
Paul

What do you mean with "viewing in custom prophoto setting"? I sure hope that does not mean you are using ProPhotoRGB as your monitor profile, because that would indeed screw things up badly.
