I use C1LE and the general concensus is that this is sufficient for 99% of applications, and a damned sight cheaper. I use it for weddings mostly, and the gradation, for instance, on white dresses is IMHO second to none. This is with a Nikon D1X, but I feel sure that it would be no different with a Canon. On the question of sharpening, the sharpening control in C1 is very good and has often 'zinged up' a bridal portrait which may have been a little on the softer side than I like. The whole program is, of course, available for a free trial period, and does take a little setting up and getting used to but once you are into it the workflow is very good. There is also a pretty comprehensive manual available as a download (free) but it is not very obvious that it is there, and took me some time to find .
