Capture One pro software

I've just downloaded the trial version of Capture One Pro software-does anyone rate this software and would you say it's worth purchasing? I've tried a search on the forum but can't find anything so hope this hasn't already been asked a thousand times!

Re: Capture One pro software

IMHO The Capture One is an excellent converter, but whether to go for the Pro at the price difference requires careful study of the value of the additional features the pro provides. In todays market the Pro is overpriced to say the least, because the competition has caught up...For less money! IMHO>>>!

Re: Capture One pro software

I use the LE version and it is especially good for my wedding work, but with new Nikon software around, and new Aperture I feel the Pro is overpriced.

Re: Capture One pro software

Yes, C1 Pro may be overpriced, but it does a few things other RAW converters don't do. If you need those things, then it's not badly priced.

I've found C1's upgrade policy very good too. They're still standard output for me. If you're shooting Canon, anyway, you also want Magne's profiles for C1.

But watch RSP too--that's a heck of thing that I like more and more and more. With the new color engine (Magne again), it's a brilliant converter, and C1 Pro only has a couple of things that RSP doesn't still... RSP's the one to watch on Windows, though.

Re: Capture One pro software

I think all raw converters are better with some cameras than others, and workflow is a very personal thing. C1 always produced the best conversions for my 1d mk1. However with my 1d mk2n ACR seems to give much better results. This is the great thing about trial periods - you are able to see if this expensive software suits your needs. I'd love to try Aperture but no trial period is simply not good enough considering the asking price.

Re: Capture One pro software

I alternate between RSP & C1 Pro depending on the subject matter.

RSP seems better for people and C1 better for 'things'

I don't really like ACR, it seems such a clunky interface by comparison and I seem to be able to get more detail with the other two.

RSP is great value and very 'customizable'
