Nikon Capture crash with AMD-64bit and Win XP SP2

I’m really annoyed by the bad service of Nikon.

This is the problem:

Nikon Capture 4.x and probably Nikon View 6.x also, will not work on an AMD-64bit system and Windows XP SP2 installed. The computer will crash (blue screen and reboots).

On other systems you can try to disable the 'Data Execution Protection' . It will not work with the above configuration, because the problem is partly caused by AMD’s 64-bit processor

Now it’s weeks later and still no solution. Nikon support advices the uninstall SP2, but it’s not an option for me.

I’m postponing various shoots because of this. I had a neat workflow with NC and can’t get the same results with Adobe PS CS (maybe it’s something I could learn).

IMO a bug of this magnitude should be solved within a few weeks.

Has anyone already a solution?

Do you still have the minidump file from the crash? You can look for it by popping up a command window (run -> cmd.exe), then "cd /d %windir%" then "dir/s *.dmp". If nothing with the right date shows up there, then cd to your "Documents and settings" directory and do the same "dir/s *.dmp"

Let me know if you find it.

Forgot to ask: What steps cause the crash?

I believe I still have the .dmp files

Simply opening causes the blue screen and the reboot. The crash is instantly after I start the application. Same is with Nikon View.
